Center for Open Education
Initiatives: The Open Textbook Library and Network, an alliance of higher education institutions committed to improving access, affordability, and academic success through the use of open textbooks.
The Community College Consortium for Open Educational Resources (CCCOER)
Promotes the awareness and adoption of open educational policies, practices, and resources. We believe that these practices will expand student access to education while supporting academic freedom and faculty choice of openly licensed curriculum materials. Membership includes hundreds of colleges in 27 US states and 2 Canadian provinces. CCCOER is part of the global Open Education Consortium. STLCC is an institutional member of CCCOER.
Online Learning Consortium (OLC)
OLC is a collaborative community of higher education leaders and innovators, dedicated to advancing quality digital teaching and learning experiences designed to reach and engage the modern learner – anyone, anywhere, anytime. STLCC is an institutional member of OLC; create a user account to access benefits.
Online Learning Initiative (OLI)
OLI aims to improve education at every level, everywhere, as part of The Simon Initiative. This coalition of CMU learning partners brings its collective efforts to bear on the mounting challenges educators face.
Open Education, SPARC
SPARC (the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition) works to enable the open sharing of research and educational materials.

Over 200+ members, primarily academic and research libraries located in the U.S. and Canada, who use the resources and support provided by SPARC to actively promote Open Access to scholarly articles, the open sharing of research data, and the creation and adoption of Open Educational Resources on their campuses.
Open Educational Resources (OER) Degree Initiative
Achieving the Dream (network of community colleges). Over the next three years, the Open Educational Resources Degree Initiative will lay the groundwork for nationwide adoption of OER Degrees.
Open Education Global
Open Education Global is a worldwide community of hundreds of universities and associated organizations committed to advancing Open Education worldwide.
OpenWashington, Open Educational Resources Network
Designed to help faculty understand the OER movement and find OER. They have links for finding textbooks, content, images and video, as well as stories from faculty who have adopted OER in their classrooms.

MOBIUS joins Open Textbook Network

Through the MOBIUS consortium of libraries, STLCC is a member of Open Textbook Network, an alliance of hundreds of colleges, universities, and consortia partners working together to advance the use of open textbooks in higher education. Textbook affordability is a major concern on college campuses throughout the United States. This partnership provides tools and services that will assist in building sustainable open textbook programs on our campuses. MOBIUS membership allows access to OTN resources including training and space on the OER Commons.

Conferences & Symposiums

Missouri Affordable & Open Educational Resources Symposium, March 3-5, 2021
Free Registration. The theme of this year’s Symposium will be centered around the idea of CARE, an acronym for Collaborating and Adapting/Adopting Resources for Equity. We will explore how the A&OER community cares for others by advocating for accessibility and equity of materials.

The Missouri Affordable and Open Educational Resources Symposium is an annual opportunity for faculty, staff, instructional designers, librarians, students, advocates, and others from around the state to gather, share expertise, and learn from one another on topics surrounding open educational resources, open practice and pedagogy, and the affordability of course materials.
Open Education Week, OE Week (first week in March)
An annual celebration, Open Education Week (OE Week) provides an opportunity to gain a greater understanding of open educational practices and be inspired by the wonderful work being developed by educators, institutions, and students from around the world. Participation is free and open to all.
