Children's Literature: Finding Children's Books

This guide will help you find reliable information on children's literature, in both print and online sources.

Finding Books

The Children’s Literature collections of the St. Louis Community College Libraries include both classic and contemporary fiction as well as a select number of non-fiction titles.

To find books written for children, click on the "Children’s Subjects" button in the STLCC Library Catalog and type in your search terms (e.g. Family Life; China Folklore; Pets).

You can also use the reference books below to look for children's books by subject or to find reviews of children's literature

Finding Award Winners

Finding Electronic Resources

A number of children’s literature titles, primarily reference sources, are available in electronic format. These titles appear in the catalog as "electronic resources" and are accessible by clicking on the link, "St. Louis Community College" under "Link to Web version."

You may also limit your search to electronic books (e-books) by typing in your subject (Children’s Literature, for example) and clicking the "Limit/Sort Search" button. Next select "EBOOK" from the "Material Type" pull-down menu to retrieve a list of available e-books on that topic.
