Black Studies: History

Resources for a global and interdisciplinary approach to the history, culture, literature, and languages of Africa and the diaspora.

African American History

These are just three of my favorites in African American history from the STLCC Libraries.

African History - Online Sources

Credo Reference is an online database which provides access to a growing selection of reference books such as subject encyclopedias and dictionaries.

Credo has tapped into its own content to create this useful guide:

African History - Databases

The Libraries' databases American Mosaic, Black Studies Center and Oxford African American Studies Center all have timelines and other information on African history. World History in Context also contains information on the history of Africa beginning before 500 AD up to the 20th century.

African History - Books

STLCC Libraries have many books on the continent's history and that of particular countries. In the search box below, try a subject search for Africa - History or for a particular country, e.g. Angola - History. Below the box are just a couple I've found edifying.
