IDS 109 Johnson Spring 2017: Find Books

Search the STLCC Library Catalog

Search for books about oral history and/or using primary documents by using St. Louis Community College's Catalog.

Catalog Search Help

Begin in the STLCC Catalog to find books in the library. The two basic methods for searching are keyword and subject searches. The subject search is somewhat misleading--it only searches for subjects as defined by the Library of Congress. Because most library users are not familiar with the official Library of Congress Subject Headings, it is often a good idea to begin with a keyword search. Some examples of keyword searches include

  1. child* and "great depression"
  2. "civil rights" and education
  3. wom*n and (suffrage or vot*)

NOTE: Use the connector "and" to separate distinct concepts in your search.  Use the connector "or" to separate synonyms in your search. Use the symbol * to as a truncation device (for multiple endings of a root word) or as a wildcard (to represent a letter within a word).
