Wikipedia is not "bad"--however, it is not appropriate for college level research. (Unless, of course, one is researching wikipedia itself!)
Wikipedia presents problems for academic research for two reasons: it can be difficult to prove its accuracy/authority/objectivity/etc. AND it is not a static source.
The Works Cited or References list should provide links to the information which was used in the writing of the paper.
