Special libraries are those that specialize in a specific subject area, or serve a specific group or institution. Some special libraries are open to outside researchers by appointment only.
The Library & Research Center houses and preserves the Missouri Historical Society's extensive collections while also serving as a local resource for research and genealogy.
Established in 1848, the Mercantile Library is now affiliated with University of Missouri - St. Louis. It holds extensive library and museum collections on St. Louis regional history, Western expansion, and railway and river transportation.
Includes the libraries of Missouri Botanical Garden, Missouri Historical Society, St. Louis Art Museum, and Goldfarb School of Nursing. This group is now part of Mobius as the Explore cluster.
Wolfner Library is a free library service for Missourians of all ages who are unable to read standard print materials due to visual impairment, blindness, physical disability or reading disability, either temporary or permanent. Wolfner Library is located in Jefferson City and provides services to residents throughout the state.
