Definition

Criminal justice:

society’s response to violations of the criminal law. The criminal justice system is the aggregate of all operating, administrative and technical support agencies that perform criminal justice functions. There are three basic operational areas to the criminal justice system in the United States: law enforcement, the courts, and corrections.
