Who can use St. Louis Community College Libraries?
The general public is welcome to visit St. Louis Community College Libraries. During your visit you may use library materials except those on Reserve.
Who can check out materials?
Currently enrolled St. Louis Community College students, faculty, and staff can check out circulating materials with a valid St. Louis Community College ID card. Membership in the campus Alumni Association entitles members to courtesy library privileges. Materials reserved for a course may be restricted to students currently enrolled in that course.
How do I get a library card?
Student ID cards can be obtained from the Student Activities Office upon presentation of the current semester fee receipt and one picture ID, such as a driver's license.
What are the loan periods for materials?
Books from the circulating collection check out to students for a 28 day period. Loan periods for other formats vary at Florissant Valley, Forest Park, Meramec, and Wildwood Libraries. Most materials, except reserves, can be renewed up to five times provided there is not a hold on the material. See our Loan Policies page for more information.
How can I renew materials?
You may call the circulation desk at any of the four St. Louis Community College campus libraries or you may renew your checked-out materials online. Simply go to the Library Catalog and click on the "Renew Item/View Record" button. You will be asked to enter your name and College ID number. Now click on the "Submit" button, then click on the "Items checked out" button. You have the choice of renewing all of your materials or just selected items. (Please note that renewals may be blocked because someone else has requested an item or you have already renewed them too many times.)
What if the Libraries don't have what I need?
See our page Borrowing From Other Libraries for information about requesting materials we don't own.
Do you charge fines?
Non-returned materials will be billed at item cost. Return of billed materials, in good condition, clears all charges.
What are the library hours?
Do you have computers available for students?
All four campuses have computers available for use by staff and currently enrolled students with sign on. A limited number of public access computers are available for one hour periods. Those users need to obtain a user name and password at the circulation desk.
Do you have laptops available for checkout?
We do have laptops available for checkout. Check with your campus circulation desk to find out about laptop loan policies, as they vary from campus to campus. At all campuses, students must present a Higher One ID card to check out a laptop.
Do you have Internet access available for students?
All four campuses offer Internet access.
Do you have scanners available for student use? If so, does it cost anything?
All campus libraries have scanners that are free for student use. Call the circulation desk at your campus for details. See our staff page for contact information.
Do you have fax machines available for students?
No. None of the campus libraries have fax machines available.
Can I print in the library? How much does it cost?
Yes. Printing is free, with a 20-page limit per day.
How do I enter my college ID number plus the college code?
The college ID is a 9-character number that begins with an A. The college code is ST. There is no space between the number and code. Example: A12345678ST.
Are food and beverages allowed in the libraries?
Prepared food or meals are not permitted in the library. Only beverages with closed containers are permitted.
