The Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Industry in the United States
The U.S. travel and tourism industry generated over $1.5 trillion in economic output in 2016, supporting 7.6 million U.S. jobs. Travel and tourism exports accounted for 11 percent of all U.S. exports and a third (33 percent) of all U.S. services exports, positioning travel and tourism as the nation's largest services export. One out of every 18 Americans is employed, either directly or indirectly, in a travel or tourism-related industry. In 2016, U.S. travel and tourism output represented 2.7 percent of gross domestic product.

Association and organization websites are often rich sources of information about themselves (mission, history, contact information, etc.), as well as the work they perform. Such sites frequently link to valuable related information, too.

American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA)
AHLA is the singular voice representing every segment of the hotel industry including major chains, independent hotels, management companies, REIT’s, bed and breakfasts, industry partners and more.
Chefs de Cuisine Association of St. Louis, American Culinary Federation
The American Culinary Federation is the largest professional chefs' organization in North America, providing opportunities to network, compete and learn. The ACF local St. Louis chapter is a non-profit organization that focuses on education and support of the culinary community in St Louis.
International Association of Culinary Professionals
IACP is a non-profit professional association which provides continuing education and professional development for its members. Missouri Restaurant Association

Accrediting Agencies and professional hospitality and tourism associations

Accreditation Commission for Programs In Hospitality Administration
In 1989 International CHRIE recommended two accrediting bodies: the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration™ (ACPHA) which accredited hospitality administration programs at the baccalaureate level, and the Commission for Accreditation of Hospitality Management Programs (CAHM) which accredited hospitality management programs at the associate’s degree or equivalent level.
International CHRIE (ICHRIE)
The International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (ICHRIE) is a non-profit professional association and provides programs and services to continually improve the quality of global education, research, service and business operations in the hospitality and tourism industry.
