O’Reilly for Higher Education (OHE) User Guide

This guide provides instructions for accessing and using the O'Reilly for Higher Education database/platform.

Sharing links

Playlists are the only items in O'Reilly for Higher Education that can be shared. To create a link to a book or video, you will first have to add it to a playlist. The playlist can consist of a single item or multiple items.

Linking to an O'Reilly book or video:

  1. Sign in to O'Reilly and create your own user profile/account. This will allow you to create and save playlists.
  2. Find the resource(s) you want to share with your students.
  3. Select Add to playlist (it may be hidden behind a menu icon). You will have the option of adding to an existing playlist or creating a new one.
  4. Select your user icon (on the top right) to see your playlists.
  5. By default, your playlists are Private. On the list of playlists, select the three dots for more options to edit the share settings. Or, open the playlist and select the red Share button at the top right. Change the setting to St. Louis Community College Playlist and choose Copy Link.

You can now use this link in your Canvas course. Note: Your students may encounter an O'Reilly login screen after clicking on your link in Canvas. They should enter their STLCC email, then St. Louis Community College should appear and they can click the SSO button to sign in.
