Citation Style Manuals

Different organizations and professions have developed and/or adopted specific rules for citing sources. This keeps the citations uniform and helps them be understood easily by others. Because of this, you may need to learn about more than one citation style. For example, Chicago Manual of Style is most often used  in journalism, economics, and history publications, while psychology and several professions use APA (American Psychological Association), and literary publications use MLA (Modern Language Association).

When an assignment requires the use of a particular format, it is important to note the edition number of the manual and use the edition specified in the assignment.  If no edition is specified, use the most recent edition.
