Jennifer Conroy, Florissant Valley Campus Library Manager: Welcome!

STLCC Libraries welcomed Jennifer Conroy to its team as the Florissant Valley Campus Library Manager on November 1, 2021. Jennifer Conroy earned her Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and has held a number of leadership roles in public libraries. Most recently, she was the Library Director at Rock Hill Public Library.

A note from Jennifer:

Greetings, all! I’m so excited to join the STLCC Community and look forward to supporting students, faculty, and staff, while learning the ins and outs of my position as Campus Library Manager at Florissant Valley. I’m looking forward to that “aha moment” when everything clicks and falls into place. While my background is in public library management, I am ready to invest my work time in a higher education setting and I think I will enjoy this new chapter in my field of librarianship. I spent a solid 12 years specifically working with youth, teens, parents, teachers, and of course helped to support the surrounding community through library events and outreach. I like to think of this move as a continuation of the education I once provided to youth in the library, from babies to teens. Picking up where I left off, if you will.

I’m now here at Florissant Valley Underwood Library to support, support, and support. Feel free to reach out and say hello and let me know if you have requests and/or ideas for services and resources. I’m sure I’ll be seeing many new faces in meetings as I move forward—and will do everything in my power to remember names.

A little about me ...

I’m a novice photographer (a favorite hobby), have a dry sense of humor, and am also becoming much the cinephile: a few of my most favorite older films just seen for the first time over the pandemic—Being There, Little Murders, and The Parallax View. More recent films include anything by Christopher Guest, PTA, and all things Wes Anderson, and I think I’ve seen Hedwig and the Angry Inch at least 25 times.

I live in the city with my two cats, Mena and Sweets. Currently reading: Broken (in the Best Possible Way) by Jenny Lawson. Currently listening to: I’ll be Your Mirror: A Tribute to The Velvet Underground and Nico. Currently seeking: podcasts for my commute.
