To limit your results to just videos, start by entering your search terms below. Once your results appear, click All filters, then scroll through the menu to find Source type, and select Videos.

Films on Demand is a collection of more than 40,000 educational videos available for video streaming. Titles are organized into subject and other categories. Most videos are divided in to segments which may be searched and viewed individually.

Feature Films and Documentaries

Streaming access to course-assigned feature films and documentaries outside of the classroom.
Digital Campus from Swank Motion Pictures provides streaming access to course-assigned feature films and documentaries outside of the classroom. The films available through Digital Campus have been chosen for instructional use from a catalog of thousands of titles. Only instructors can request to have titles added to Digital Campus. See the Digital Campus Guide for more information.

Because this service is maintained to support classroom instruction, the films available through Digital Campus will vary from semester to semester.

Films licensed through Digital Campus can be viewed online for individual or course use only. Public or group viewings of these films are strictly prohibited.

MEF Collection- Media Education Foundation
The documentaries in the Media Education Foundation (MEF) Collection encourage critical thinking about the social, political, and cultural impact of American mass media. With a special focus on representations of gender and race, and the effect these representations have on identity and culture, MEF films are especially well-suited for use in Women's Studies, Sociology, Race Studies,Communication, Anthropology, Education, and Psychology courses.

American Archive of Public Broadcasting
The AAPB is a partnership between the Library of Congress and WGBH-Boston. It hosts tens of thousands of hours of public broadcast media, most of which is free to access.
HEC Media
Local documentaries produced by the Higher Education Council.
National Film Board of Canada
All types of films, including noteworthy documentaries and animation.
PBS
On-demand streaming is a member benefit. Some PBS shows and documentaries are available through the STLCC Library databases AVoN, Films on Demand and Kanopy.
TED Talks
The well known series of short videos in which someone describes an innovative idea. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, and Design.
Top Documentary Films
Website that provides access to free documentary films that can be found online. The films are from open sources including Vimeo and YouTube.
TV.com
Includes channel listings from TV guide, plus streaming TV shows from a wide variety of current channels.
Vimeo
A platform used by many professional (and other) creators of online video content.
YouTube
One of the largest, most well-known sites on the internet, the YouTube platform has everything from full-length classic moves & TV shows to v-logs to short educational videos.
Crash Course
An educational video channel on YouTube, which includes animated and live-action mini-lectures covering college and secondary course material and other topics.

In addition to these free sites, there are many for-pay streaming sites, such as Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon Prime, that may offer a free trial or have low-priced options. They are not linked here because terms and prices may change rapidly. Fandor is another for-pay film streaming site that offers a discount for students and educators: fanodor.com/edu. Pluto, Tubi, ShoutFactoryTV and Crackle also offer free movies and TV, with ads and changing content.
