Ferguson's Career Guidance Center career research database is broken down into three main sections: Job and Industry Profiles, Job-Hunting and Workplace Skills, and Career and Industry Resources. The material is drawn from a range of sources and is extensively indexed.

The Job and Industry Profiles section includes industry profiles organized by the U.S. Department of Education's Career Clusters and thousands of articles on specific jobs. The Job-Hunting and Workplace Skills section gives guidance on the essentials of getting a job and keeping it -- establishing a career path, honing interview skills, writing resumes, and more. The Career and Industry Resources section includes searchable, browsable resource entries divided into convenient categories on fellowships, organizations, internships, scholarships, and awards.

Other sections of interest include School Searches (four comprehensive, current databases, provided by Peterson's Nelnet, LLC, covering undergraduate, graduate, nursing, and vocational and technical schools in the U.S. and Canada), where users can search for schools by type, region, areas of study, and a variety of other characteristics; Career Interest Assessment (a test that ranks users' work interest areas and suggests related occupations and industries); and Links to Outside Jobs (access to current, live job postings).

Features include videos covering jobs, industries, and career development skills; advice from nationally renowned author and career expert Sue Morem for recent graduates, job seekers, and people advancing in the workplace; "My Life" interviews with professionals; Career Opportunities News; persistent record links, and dynamic citations in MLA and Chicago Manual of Style formats.

Basic Search help

Academic Search Premier includes 4645 magazines and journals in full text, of which 3855 are peer-reviewed. The database indexes and abstracts a total of18,999 magazines & journals.

Art Full Text is a bibliographic database that indexes and abstracts articles from periodicals published throughout the world. It covers Advertising Art, Antiques, Archaeology, Architecture and Architectural History, Art History, Computers in Art, Crafts, Decorative Arts, Fashion Design, Folk Art, Graphic Arts, Industrial Design, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, Motion Pictures, Museology, Non-Western Art, Painting, Photography, Pottery, Sculpture, Television, Textiles, and Video. Full-text coverage for selected periodicals is also included. Periodical coverage includes English-language periodicals, yearbooks, and museum bulletins, as well as periodicals published in French, Italian, German, Japanese, Spanish, Dutch, and Swedish. In addition to articles, Art Full Text indexes reproductions of works of art that appear in indexed periodicals. Indexing coverage begins 1984; abstracting coverage begins with January 1994. The abstracts range from 50 to 300 words and describe the content and scope of the source articles. Full-text coverage begins in 1997.

CINAHL Complete includes citations, abstracts and full text of journal articles, dissertations, and other materials. It indexes 3804 journals, including 466 in full-text, and provides 133 full-text evidence-based care sheets.

Educator's Reference Complete provides access to academic journals, reports, and many premier reference sources in the field of education. The database includes content in key subject areas including administration, bilingual education, child development and psychology, funding, health education, technology, and testing. The majority of the full-text titles included are also found in the ERIC database.

ScienceDirect includes more than 2000 journal titles in the collections Health Sciences, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences and Engineering, and Social Sciences and Humanities. These journals are exclusive to ScienceDirect and not available anywhere else online.
