The David L. Underwood Memorial Lecture Award recipient is announced each spring during National Library Week in April. The recipient is a STLCC-Florissant Valley faculty member or staff person who emulates the values of David Underwood who served the campus as Dean of Instruction from 1967 to 1975. The awardee presents a lecture to the campus during the week preceding the beginning of the fall term, known as Service Week. See Award Background and Criteria.
Friends, delicious food and a charge to help Archers realize their dreams.
Marie McCool, (at the podium in the image above) theatre manager and the 49th David L. Underwood Memorial Lecture Award winner, was center stage Wednesday during festivities held to remember the late David L. Underwood and honor his love of education and dedication to the mission at Florissant Valley.
Among other things, McCool's lecture "Making Magic Happen: A Backstage Tour," included smoke and audio effects, an impromptu play that featured audience members turned actors capped with a captivating conclusion that included colorful streamers and balloons that descended from the theatre ceiling.
