Step-by-step renewal process:

  1. Visit the NYT Group Pass page.
  2. If your Pass has expired, select the Log in here option to renew. (see screenshot below).
  3. Use the email and password you currently use to access the NYT.
  4. You will be granted a new Pass and see the Start Your Access screen. (The new Pass is good for 1 year from date of renewal.)
  5. Still have questions? Please contact an instruction librarian at your campus library, or use Ask a Librarian.

FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between an Account and a (Group) Pass?

When you create your account, you are setting up your profile, which includes your STLCC email address. The (Group) Pass provides access to the NYT for one year. The account does not expire, but when the Pass expires each year you will need to renew it to regain access. The Pass can be renewed each year while you are a student, faculty or staff of STLCC.

I already have a Times digital subscription, which gives me unlimited access to NYTimes.com. What should I do?

If you have an existing digital subscription, you are not eligible to activate an NYTimes.com Pass. Please contact edu@nytimes.com to discuss your options.

What are the restrictions?

You need to be connected to the your institution’s network to activate the NYTimes.com Pass. At this time, access to articles from 1923 to 1980 is limited to five articles per day per person (unlimited access to other articles). Does not include e-reader editions, Times Insider content or digital versions of The New York Times Crossword.  Other restrictions may apply.

Can I access The Times from off-campus?

Yes, as long as you have previously activated your NYTimes.com Pass from within your institution’s network from campus or using the login/authentication process from off campus locations.

Can I access The Times from my mobile device?

All NYTimes.com Passes provide access to NYT apps; visit nytimes.com/mobile to download or find in your device's app store. Pass holders can also access NYTimes.com on any device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) with a browser. Mobile apps are supported by most devices.

Why am I asked to log in on some occasions and not others?

This may be because your browser may clear its web cache/history if it is set to do so. In such cases you will need to log back into NYTimes.com, but you can still use your NYTimes.com Pass.

When does my Pass (Account) expire?

Your Pass expiration time stamp will be shown to you upon registration. It will be one year from date of activation. You may wish to make a note on your calendar to renew for uninterrupted access.
