This article describes an innovative hybrid, inquiry-based learning clinical instruction model used in accelerated baccalaureate nursing programs at three university nursing schools in the Washington DC metropolitan area. The authors describe student and faculty roles and offer examples of grading criteria. Nurse faculty and students from the three schools of nursing regard the clinical instruction model as a valuable teaching-learning approach that strengthens the relationship between theory and practice, prepares students to think critically and act effectively, and grooms students and faculty for a lifetime of learning in a changing world.

This integrative review identifies factors that facilitate or impede nurse educator's transition into an educational role. Quantitative and qualitative literature was reviewed, from 2007–2017 in the databases: Cummulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Education Resources Information Center, MEDLINE, Science Direct, ProQuest. Findings indicate that orientation programs, mentor support, clarity about role expectations, and ongoing feedback on performance during the transition phase are essential for academic organizations to retain excellent nursing faulty. Musallam, E., Ali, A. A., & Nicely, S. (2021). The Impact of Dedicated Education Model on Nursing Students’ Outcomes: An Integrative Review. Nurse Educator, 46(5), E113–E116. Purpose: This integrative review analyzed the evidence on the relationship between the DEU model and nursing students' learning outcomes. Methods: Electronic databases were searched for articles published between 1998 and 2019. Search terms used were dedicated education unit, academic collaboration, academic-practice partnership, and outcomes. A total of 24 articles informed this review. Results: Four categories emerged: clinical self-efficacy and confidence, teamwork and collaboration, knowledge and competency, and students' satisfaction.

Purpose: For the student nurse, peripheral venous cannulation is one of the most stressful skills to be learned. Although some healthcare employers/establishments offer courses on vascular access and infusion nursing as part of their onboarding programs, ultimately educational institutions should share the responsibility to ensure that graduating nurses can provide safe infusion therapies. Methods: An innovative vascular access and infusion nursing (VAIN) curriculum was created and mapped onto the entry to practice undergraduate nursing program at McGill University in Montréal, Québec, Canada. Results: Students experienced multiple new teaching approaches including multimedia and experiential learning and live simulation to ensure acquisition of knowledge and psychomotor skills. The teaching approaches had to be rapidly modified with the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic. Conclusions: The VAIN curriculum emphasizes simulation and directed practice, seeking to increase competence, confidence, and knowledge. The pandemic underscored the need for flexibility and creativity in content delivery.
