STLCC is a charter member of MOBIUS, a consortium of 75 member libraries, including 65 Missouri university & college libraries. Our students have access to the circulating books in the estimated 27 million item collection. Students may check out up to 20 MOBIUS books at a time, either by visiting the libraries in person or requesting the books to be sent to an STLCC location for pickup. MOBIUS requests typically arrive in three to seven days.
Students and faculty also have access to traditional ILL, and are able to search and electronically submit their requests for journal and periodical articles, book chapters and books. STLCC Libraries’ ILL service has borrowing agreements with thousands of libraries in our local area and around the world, and is therefore able to provide students and staff with access to millions of items not available in our own collection.
Each campus library provides ample seating for students, as well as group and quiet study rooms. STLCC students have access to wired computer workstations located throughout each campus library. In addition, wireless laptops are available for student use within each library. The Library workstations and laptops have productivity software (Microsoft Office Suite) installed, and all STLCC students are provided an Office 365 account, which gives them access to 1TB of cloud storage and a license to download Microsoft Office to personal computers. Photocopiers, scanners, black & white printers, and color printers are available in each campus library.
The libraries are accessible for students with disabilities, have internal elevators as well as stair access to upper floors, and house assistive devices for special needs students. Central location on the campuses and special-needs accommodations make accessing library resources easy for Nursing students and faculty. STLCC Libraries maintain an integrated catalog, databases and 24/7 website access to support student and faculty needs.
The regular book checkout period is four weeks for students and until the end of the semester for faculty. Through the STLCC Library Catalog, students may request circulating materials to be sent from one campus library to another for checkout. Delivery time between campuses is usually one or two days. Of course, all STLCC students may check out materials in person at any STLCC library.
Nursing faculty place nursing textbooks and other materials on Reserve to ensure that all students have access to essential course materials. Reserve materials are available for use in the library only, or for short checkout periods at the discretion of the faculty. Campus libraries have photocopiers and scanners available for student use.
