It is designed to provide instructors with concrete strategies that can be implemented to support students during this exceptionally challenging time in their lives and beyond as we enter a post-inoculation world.

Learn about emerging practices for transforming your instructional materials and practices featuring a librarian, an instructional coach, and a faculty member. Topics range from sourcing images to reflect your students’ culture and identity, reforming your syllabus towards inclusion, and converting your classes to include viewpoints that reflect varied cultural and gendered identities.

By combining insights from the existing literature with our own experiences, the DISCs project seeks to explore what it means to be gender-conscious, community-oriented, and interculturally competent in our teaching, and how these understandings might inform the development of social justice orientations toward education.

The Southwest Center for Human Relations Studies is a department within the Public and Community Services Division of the College of Continuing Education at the University of Oklahoma. Formed in 1961, the Southwest Center is devoted to the study, understanding, and resolution of human conflict and to promoting understanding and cooperation among people of different racial, ethnic, religious, and economic backgrounds. One of the major programs of the Southwest Center is the Annual National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in American Higher Education (NCORE), which serves as the leading national forum on issues of race and ethnicity in American higher education.

Equity Unbound is an emergent, collaborative curriculum which aims to create equity-focused, open, connected, intercultural learning experiences across classes, countries and contexts.

A product of a working group with representatives from across ED and discussions with the education community. This work builds on existing research and provides a framework for the development of global and cultural competencies beginning in early childhood through postsecondary education and bases it on a foundation of discipline-specific knowledge. The U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Education have issued a Joint Statement of Principles in Support of International Education, with support from the departments of Commerce and Homeland Security. The joint statement is the first such public affirmation in over 20 years. The joint statement underscores the important role that international education has to play in promoting mutual understanding among people from different nations, helping ensure that Americans from all walks of life better understand the world and are prepared to effectively engage with their neighbors, and building lasting relationships among peers and future leaders across the globe. Our mission is to help institutions use new technology to innovate teaching and learning, with the ultimate goal of improving student outcomes for Black, Latinx, and Indigenous students, poverty-affected students, and first-generation students.

By examining the current systems, and the unjust design that creates the pitfall-filled road that many students face during their undergraduate education, institutions can begin to identify and address the unjust design. During the spring and summer of 2021, The Gardner Institute and a host of postsecondary education-focused organizations, institutions, and thought leaders will examine these systems and explore how socially just design can lead to more equitable educational outcomes. This unique series will provide at least seven successive system-redesign-focused installments that help colleges and universities better work towards more socially just design and equitable outcomes in higher education.

The Office on Socioeconomic Status (SES) is responsible for directing, overseeing, facilitating and promoting psychology’s contribution to the understanding of SES and the lives and well-being of the poor. This often includes minorities and under-represented populations.

The Tree of Contemplative Practices illustrates some of the many contemplative practices used in education and secular organizations.

We borrow a principle of community organizing: to bring about transformation, you have to meet people where they are—and give them tools to build their own knowledge and self-change. These tools reflect this idea and are inherently flexible approaches with practical activities embedded within them. Though the tools are organized into four phases, they naturally support a race-focused continuous improvement process: inquiring and observing, experimenting with changes, evaluating progress, and learning.
